Examples of applications
Monopropylene glycol (MPG) is used in a wide range of industries because of its physical properties, its low freezing point and low toxicity. The main fields of application for technical grade MPG are polyester resins used for example in the automotive and shipbuilding industry. Other technical fields of applications include laundry detergents and antifreeze products, where MPG is used due to the fact that it is non-toxic. The main fields of application for food grade MPG are in the cosmetics industry, where it is used as a moisture regulator, and the flavor industry. Food grade MPG accounts for approx. 43% of total consumption worldwide.
